"Building Log Home Dreams Into Realities"

There are several options to consider...

  1. You can build all of it yourself.
If you have the skills and the time, you can build your own log home. Kuhns Bros. offers two-day construction workshops at the factory. The cost is minimal and there is no charge if you have placed a deposit on the log home package. Dates fill up quickly; contact us for more information or about reserving a spot. There's no obligation.

    .

  2. You can build part yourself.
For many people, this is a good option. You can erect the log shell and have a contractor do the interior. Or you may want to have the contractor put up the shell and get the structure weather tight so you can have a warm, dry interior to do the finish work yourself.

    .

  3. You can act as the General Contractor.
In this case, you would be responsible for obtaining permits, finding subcontractors (excavator, plumber, electrician, etc.) and scheduling them. One problem that can arise is that subcontractors have a list of "bread and butter" builders that they regularly work for and are committed to. Construction schedules can conflict and lead to delays on your project.
    .

  4. You can have a contractor build the entire log home.
This is known as a "turnkey" job. The builder does everything and gives you the key when it's ready to move into. We are not contractors but we can put you in touch with several builders who we feel are reliable and may have built Kuhns Bros. log homes. You would then interview them, check their references and decide which one is right for you.

** No matter how you decide to build your log home, we provide a minimum of 40 hours on-site technical assistance to make sure that all goes well with your project.  We are there for you, not only through the completion of the project, but as friends for a lifetime.
